June 10, 2010

We’re 1/3 through the baseball season and the AL Central is looking like a two-team race between the Tigers and Twins. As of mid-June, Minnesota leads the division by 3.5 games, and these two division rivals are set to meet again in Detroit starting on July 9th.

However, for what is shaping up to be a potentially season-defining series, ticket prices remain surprisingly low, at just $8 more than tickets against the lowly Orioles.

You would expect tickets for a series like this to have a reasonable premium, but so far the that hasn’t been the case. With a 29-27 record, maybe Tigers’ fans are holding out to see if their team can stay close. If they can, prices will head north as the series approaches and those who wait will be stuck holding the bag.
