The Killers, Mumford & Sons and The Cure Top The Bill at Lollapalooza

April 18, 2013

Founded by Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell as a farewell tour for his band in the early 90s, but since transformed into one of the biggest events on the U.S. musical calendar, Lollapalooza tickets are some of the most hotly-sought after on the festival scene.

Now celebrating its 21st anniversary and its eighth consecutive year at Chicago’s Hutchinson Field Grant Park, over 160,000 music fans are expected to descend on the 150 acres of land during the weekend of August 2-4.
There are still nearly 2000 Lollapalooza tickets waiting to be snapped up with single day passes available for a get-in price of $190 and an average price of $335 on Friday August 2nd, $209/$318 on Sat August 3rd and $16/$210 for Sun August 4th, with an overall average price of $290. While for those wanting the full festival experience, there are also three-day passes still on sale for $45/$318.

Last year’s line-up featured such heavyweights as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack White, The Black Keys and Florence and The Machine in addition to Black Sabbath's long-awaited live comeback. But the 130 acts confirmed to appear at the 2013 festival are arguably just as impressive.

The opening day sees headline sets from The Killers and Nine Inch Nails, with New Order, Queens Of The Stone Age and Steve Aoki also joining them near the top of the bill. Elsewhere there will be performances across the eight stages from British soul divas Emeli Sande and Jessie Ware, electro outfits Hot Chip and Crystal Castles and indie-rockers Band of Horses and Frightened Rabbit alongside two acts who have both recently reached No.2 on the Billboard charts with their debut albums, Lana Del Rey and Imagine Dragons.

Mumford and Sons continue their incredible run of success with a headline slot on the Saturday, with The Postal Service, The National and fellow nu-folkers The Lumineers also scheduled to appear. While other notable performers include the hotly-tipped Kendrick Lamar and Haim, the man responsible for the “Harlem Shake,” Baauer, and two-thirds of the Dixie Chicks, Court Yard Hounds.

The Cure will then play the festival for the first time in their career on the Sunday following sets from Phoenix, Vampire Weekend and Knife Party, with Mercury Prize winners Alt-J, synth-pop siblings Tegan and Sara and critically-acclaimed dream-pop duo Beach House also bringing the festival to the close alongside the likes of Cat Power, Two Door Cinema Club and Major Lazer.
