Red Hot Chili Peppers To Visit Alaska For The First Time

May 29, 2013

After selling over a million Red Hot Chili Peppers tickets over the last two years, California’s premier funk-rock outfit were expected to take it easy once their mammoth I’m With You world tour made its final stop at Indio’s Empire Polo Club last month.

However, just a week after performing in front of the Dalai Lama at Portland’s Dalai Lama Environmental Summit, Anthony Kiedis and co. announced they would head out back on the road this summer for two further headline dates in addition to their three scheduled festival appearances.

Following sets at Detroit’s Orion Music & More on June 8 and Dover’s Firefly Music Festival, the seven-time Grammy Award winners will then head to Anchorage’s Sullivan Arena to play Alaska for the first time in their 30-year history.

The band had previously cancelled four shows at the same venue back in 1997 when their One Hot Minute tour became plagued by drug problems, injuries and schedule conflicts. But they will finally get the chance to make amends when they take to the stage on August 5 and 6, just a few days before they headline San Francisco’s Outside Lands festival on the weekend of August 9-11.

Red Hot Chili Peppers tickets for these two notable gigs are currently unavailable on TicketIQ, but keep checking back for updates on their much-belated excursion to The Last Frontier.

If the group stick to the same set-list as their recent 137-date tour, then expect to hear the majority of 2011’s I’m With You, including the singles, “The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie,” “Monarchy Of Roses” and “Look Around.”

But having previously covered material from 1987’s The Uplift Mofo Party Plan (“Me & My Friends”) right up to 2006’s double album, Stadium Arcadium (“Dani California”), fans with Red Hot Chili Peppers tickets can also look forward to hearing the best of their back catalogue including breakthrough hit, “Give It Away,” US Top 10 smashes “Under The Bridge” and “Scar Tissue” and their cover versions of Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground” and The Meters’ “Hollywood.”
