Selena Gomez Goes It Alone For Stars Dance Tour

May 8, 2013

After parting company with her backing band, The Scene, one of the Disney Channel’s biggest stars will take to the global stage on her own for the first time later this year with the release of Selena Gomez tickets for a 58-date world tour.

The Wizards Of Waverly Place star, who has spent the last two years focusing on her film career with roles in Monte Carlo, Hotel Transylvania and Spring Breakers, will kick off the Stars Dance Tour in support of her upcoming fourth studio album with eight dates in Canada, starting at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on August 14.

There are Selena Gomez tickets available for five of these shows including Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome on August 16 with a get-in price of $73 and an average price of $179, Edmonton’s Rexall Place on August 17 ($60/$133), Saskatoon’s Credit Union Centre on August 18 ($122/$251), Ottawa’s Scotiabank Place on August 22 ($67/$192) and Toronto’s Air Canada Centre on August 24 ($74/$186).

Following 17 dates across Europe, where she will play the likes of London’s Hammersmith Apollo, Amsterdam’s Heineken Music Hall and Kiev’s Palace of Sport, the 20-year-old will then return to North America for a further 33 gigs, beginning at Fairfax’s Patriot Center on October 10 ($60/$165) and concluding at St. Louis’ Chaifetz Arena on November 27.

With an overall average price of $203, there are thousands of Selena Gomez tickets still waiting to be snapped up with the October 18 date at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center (average price $192) and Oct 27 concert at Charlotte’s Time Warner Cable Arena (average price $265) currently the lowest get-in price at $41 and the November 1 gig at San Antonio’s AT&T Center the cheapest average price at $140 (get-in price $69).

Gomez recently revealed to Ryan Seacrest that she wants the tour to follow in the footsteps of her heroes Britney Spears and Janet Jackson by focusing more on the dancing and performing than any elaborate staging. While with her as-yet-untitled new LP due out later this year, expect to hear plenty of new material from the all-round entertainer, including the single she performed at the MTV Movie Awards, “Come & Get It.”

But alongside all the hits from 2009’s Kiss & Tell (“Falling Down,” “Naturally”) 2010’s A Year Without Rain (“Round & Round,” the title track) and 2011’s When The Sun Goes Down (“Who Says,” “Love You Like A Love Song”), there are bound to be a few surprises too. Her last We Own The Night tour not only featured cover versions of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass,” Alexandra Stan’s “Mr Saxobeat” and Miranda Lambert’s “The House That Built Me” but also a medley of her favourite Britney songs and “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know,” the theme tune to her first leading film role, A Cinderella Story.
