Previewing 2013 US Open Tickets

July 18, 2013

With only a little over a month to go until the US Open, we wanted to take a look at the current state of US Open tickets. Currently, we have plenty of tickets available for all 26 sessions, from the August 26 first session all the way through the Men’s Final on September 9th.

Sessions 1-22 of the Open run through the Men’s and Women’s quarterfinals. The odd-numbered sessions mark the daytime sessions, which will begin at 11am. The even-numbered sessions are the evening session in which play will begin at 7pm. As you might expect, the average ticket price per session, progressively gets more expensive as the tournament goes on. However, get-in prices remain relatively inexpensive and rather consistent throughout the first 22 sessions. Perfectly exemplifying this phenomenon is that while Session 3, a first round day session, comes in at an average of $168 with a get-in of $52, while Session 18, a Men's Round of 16/Women's Quarterfinals night session, is currently averaging $386 but carries a get-in of just $52.

Serena Williams captured her fourth career US Open women’s title last year. Coincidentally, Flushing Meadows was also the site of Serena’s first major championship back in 1999, just about a week after she had turned 18 years old. Session 25, the Women’s final as well as the Men’s Doubles final, takes place on Sunday, September 8, at 12pm. This year’s Women’s Final prices currently sit at an average of $482, with a get-in price of $92. Both figures are actually down around 10% over the last month.

Over on the men’s side, Andy Murray looks to continue his hot play and defend his 2012 title. Currently, ticket prices for this year’s men’s final are the second most expensive session of the US Open with an average ticket price of $760. Like the Women’s Final, ticket prices for the Men’s Final are also down over the last month falling from $921 to $760, a drop of 17%. With this drop in price, Session 24 to see the Men’s Semifinal and the Women’s doubles Final are now the most expensive Session of the tournament with an average price of $829 per seat.

Like the Men's and Women's Finals, ticket prices are trending in favor of the ticket buyer. Overall, the tournament average has fallen 5%, dropping from $372 a month ago down to $352 today. Prices may continue to fall so keep checking back with us throughout the next month for more price updates.
