Queen and Adam Lambert with “Major Announcement” on Thursday March 6th

March 5, 2014

Queen and Adam Lambert have announced that they will be revealing a “major announcement” Thursday at Madison Square Garden at 10:30am. All speculation leads this news to be a press conference for a US tour. The group has performed with Lambert at various events throughout Europe and Las Vegas in 2012, and general received more favorable reviews than their tour with Bad Company's Paul Rodgers.

A lesser, but still possible outcome is a residency at aforementioned Madison Square Garden, lovingly called the “World's Most Famous Arena” in the sports and music industries. Billy Joel is enjoying continued success of his month to month residency, with all 12 shows selling out, and Billy Joel tickets commanding top dollar on the resale market. With the Knicks struggling to remain in contention for the final playoff spot, and the Rangers looking like they'll fall short of their Stanley Cup expectations, New Yorkers are showing their support for Joel and other acts coming to the 7th Ave stalwart, and there's no reason to suspect why Queen tickets wouldn't command a similar demand.

To add fuel to the rumor fire, lead guitarist Brian May has been quoted from his official website as having numerous meetings with drummer Roger Taylor and that the two were “looking at doing some dates” in 2014. Queen originally backed Lambert for the American Idol finale in 2009, which Lambert eventually lost to Kris Allen.
