Top 5 Broadway Tickets Of The Week (8/11)

August 11, 2014

The Broadway Musical based on the 1992 Disney Film Newsies is ending it’s run on Broadway at the end of August. That has helped the show climb into the top five rankings for the first time all season, up to the second spot on the list. But outside of that change the top five has largely remained the same, with Wicked the one show dropping off.

1) 8/17 Hedwig and the Angry Inch | Avg. Price: $1,447.91 | Get-in Price: $273

Prices for Hedwig and the Angry Inch tickets have actually gone down 18 percent for the show on the 17th, but that still has led to an average of $1,447.91. That firmly puts the show at the top of the list once again, though the get-in price of $273 is not the most expensive you’ll find this week.

2) 8/13 Newsies | Avg. Price: $673.58 | Get-in Price: $139

The Disney musical saw the largest price premium of the week, with ticket prices for the show on the 13th going up 15 percent. Now Newsies tickets are averaging $673.58 for the show, with a $139 get-in price.

3) 8/16 Kinky Boots | Avg. Price: $419.12 | Get-in Price: $105

Kinky Boots had ticket prices increase seven percent over the week, but still fell from the second spot this week. Obviously not too far, with Kinky Boots tickets the third most expensive of the week with a $419.12 average. But only one show this week has a lower get-in price than the $105 for the 16th showing.

4) 8/16 Motown | Avg. Price: $407.09 | Get-in Price: $96

The other mainstay on this list is the show with the lowest get-in price of the week. Motown tickets are the only one on the list with a ticket under $100, with the get-in price for the show on the 16th costing $96. Overall, the average price of the show has gone down three percent, and now has a $407.09 average.

5) 8/13 A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder | Avg. Price: $383.79 | Get-in Price: $323

Once again A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder has the oddest trend on the list. Prices are up seven percent for the show on the 13th, but that still has the show the cheapest on the list in terms of average price at $383.79. But A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder tickets have the largest get-in price of any show at $323.
