September 23, 2014

Earlier today on Forbes, we broke down the average price Green Bay Packers tickets for their divisional match-up against the Bears this weekend. Packers vs Bears tickets are always expensive, but this time around when Aaron Rodgers and Jay Cutler square off it will be the most expensive game of the entire NFL season. For more on tickets to the game between, here's some of our Forbes article:

Following a Monday night win against the New York Jets, the Chicago Bears will fly home and prepare for the most anticipated game of the NFL season so far. Most anticipated, at least, according to the secondary market. With the Green Bay Packers heading to Soldier Field on Sunday, Chicago Bears tickets won’t just be the most expensive in Chicago for the season, but the most expensive in the entire NFL.

....the average price for Bears vs Packers tickets is currently $666.36. That’s more than $100 over the average of the next most expensive game when the Denver Broncos visit the New England Patriots in Week 9. That game currently has an average price of $556.89, 16.4% below the Packers-Bears average. The game against the Packers is currently 74% above the regular season average at Soldier Field this year.

Green Bay and Chicago have the longest rivalry in the NFL. The teams have played 188 times to an almost even rate. While the Bears have the all-time series lead 93-89, six ties keep either team from having a win percentage above 50%. With all those games being played, Sunday’s game will be the most expensive regular season meeting on the secondary market since TicketIQ has kept track of data.
