With more than seven feet of snow in Buffalo this past week, the NFL decided it would not be able to play the Week 12 game between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets at Ralph Wilson Stadium. On Thursday the league announced the game would be held at a neutral location of Ford Field in Detroit on Monday night.

Late on Friday, the league announced tickets for the game would be free for the general public wishing to attend. Tickets will be available starting at 10am Saturday through detroitlions.com. This will be the second time since 2010 that Ford Field will host a neutral site game because of snow. In December of 2010, the roof of the Metrodome collapsed due to a heavy amount of snow and a Vikings/Giants game was moved from Minnesota to Detroit.

The Bills had originally attempted to clear Ralph Wilson Stadium of snow by offering fans $10 per hour to shovel along with free tickets to the game in Buffalo. However the snow provided to be not only too much to clear, but many fans in the area were unable to leave their houses even if they wanted to help.

With so much snow, the Bills are now hoping the stadium can be cleared in time to play next week’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
