2015 Masters Tickets Up 19% From Last Year

A tradition unlike any other, the 2015 Masters Tournament will take place on April 9 and conclude on April 12. The four day tournament is the biggest of the year in golf and typically sees the highest ticket prices on the secondary market. That will continue to be the case this year as the average price for 2015 Masters tickets for each individual day of the tournament exceeds $1,000.

The exclusivity of the tournament is also a factor in the high prices as a relatively low number of tickets hit the secondary market. This year, a four day badge has an average price of $5,264.25 with a get-in price of $4,767.26. That’s 19% above last year’s four day average of $4,420.37.

Individually, the first two days will be most expensive on the secondary market. Masters tickets on Thursday have an average price of $1475.47, while Friday’s round has an average price of $1476.24. Surprisingly prices go down after the cut to the weekend as Saturday’s round has an average price of $1,459.06. The final day of the tournament on Sunday has the lowest average at $1,264.60.

The full field is not yet set for the Masters and the biggest player on the fence is Tiger Woods. Golf channel analyst, and former Stanford teammate of Woods, Notah Begay says Woods is 50/50 to play at the Masters. Woods has not played in a PGA tournament since the Farmers Insurance Open in early February. Woods withdrew from the tournament due to back issues after missing the cut during the Waste Management Phoenix Open in his previous tournament appearance.

Back in 2013 Woods was making a comeback to the Masters as the world’s no. 1 golfer and ticket prices spiked significantly for the event. A four day badge had an average price of $13,820 that year in anticipation of Woods’ participation. While there could be a slight boost in price if Woods decides to play, his recent success level has not been close to that of 2013.

The week will start with practice rounds on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. As expected practice round tickets will be well below the average for the actual tournament, but should not be considered cheap. Monday’s practice round has an average price of $354.07, Tuesday will average $440.63 and Wednesday’s round is currently listed at a $897.33 average.
