Canelo Alvarez vs James Kirkland Tickets Are Averaging $183 On Secondary Market

May 7, 2015

It’s not often a boxing match is held in a ballpark, but that will be the case this Saturday in Houston. Canelo Alvarez will take on James Kirkland at Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros. The fight will be a 12-round super welterweight bout. This will be the first match ever held at Minute Maid Park.

The 24-year-old Alvarez (44-1-1, 31 KOs) is one of boxing’s rising stars. His only loss came in 2013 when he faces Floyd Mayweather in what was at the time the highest grossing fight of all time. That title, of course, has now been claimed by Mayweather’s latest fight against Manny Pacquiao. Like Alvarez, the 30-year-old Kirkland has only lost one fight in his career (32-1, 28 KOs). The historical success for these fighters should make this a closely contested fight.

Alvarez was originally in talks to fight middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, but those talks broke down because Alvarez believed Cotto was taking too long to make a deal. Alvarez and his team then moved on to a deal with Kirkland.

Ticket prices on the primary market ranged from $350 all the way down to $10. On the secondary market, Alvarez vs Kirkland tickets have an average price of $182.77 with the least expensive ticket to get in listed at $25.
