69th Annual Tony Awards Tickets Are Averaging Over $900 On Resale Market

The 69th annual Tony Awards, for the third year in a row, will be held at the Radio City Music Hall this Sunday on June 7. This year’s Tony Awards will feature more performers on stage than ever before. The event will be hosted by Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming as the biggest talents in theatre, TV, film, and music will be put together for one big night. The night is stacked with entertainment with numerous guest appearances, plus the winners of 24 different categories of nominees will be announced that will include Best Play, Best Musical, Best Revival of a Play, and Best Book of a Musical to name a few.

On TicketIQ, tickets for the Tony Awards this Sunday in New York are going for an average price of $917.93 on the secondary market, with the cheapest ticket to get in priced at $506. Tony Awards tickets this year have increased by 64% compared to last year’s event, when tickets had an average price of $557.67 on the secondary market.

Some of the top nominees for Broadway productions that have seen the biggest demand on TicketIQ include “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” one of the nominees for Best Play, “Something Rotten,” the nominee for Best Musical, “The King and I,” one of the nominees for Best Revival of a Musical, and “An American Paris,” one of the nominees for Best Book of a Musical.

“The Curious Incident” Broadway show and a top nominee for Best Play is currently still playing at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre until the end of the year. The Curious Incident tickets have an average price of $306.19 on the secondary market of their remaining shows this year.

“The King and I,” the new Broadway production which debuted at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre in April of this year, is already nominated for a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical will be showing for the rest of year. The King & I has routinely topped TicketIQ’s most expensive Broadway shows of the week list and the King & I tickets are going for an average price of $362.98 on the secondary market.

“Something Rotten,” one of the nominees for Best Musical is also a relatively new Broadway production debuting at the St. James Theatre this past April. Demand has also been high for the critically acclaimed show, as Something Rotten tickets having a secondary average price of $221.45 for the remaining shows this year.

An American Paris,” a nominee for Best Book of a Musical also just recently debuted on Broadway this past April, playing at the Palace Theatre. An American in Paris tickets are the least expensive of the major nominees, but they still have an average price of $193.73 for their remaining shows this year.

The Radio City Music Hall will be packed with much talent this Sunday night with featured appearances by Bradley Cooper, Neil Patrick Harris, Taye Diggs, Kiefer Sutherland, Larry David, and many more.
