Breaking Down the Average John Fogerty Setlist For His 1969 World Tour

June 16, 2015

(UPDATE 6/16/15) It was the Summer of Love, and John Fogerty was fronting one of the biggest up-and-coming bands in Creedence Clearwater Revival. The band released three albums in 1969 and found critical success with each, cementing its place among some of rock and roll’s elite in the process. 46 years later, Fogerty will revisit his past accomplishments all summer long on his 1969 World Tour, which runs in the U.S. and Canada through the beginning of August.

Songs like “Fortunate Son”, “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” and “Lodi” resonated with American popular culture in the heat of the Vietnam War, and if ticket demand on the secondary market is any indication,  those songs still carry a torch of importance nearly five decades later. (2/11/15) The Summer of Love is quickly approaching its 46-year anniversary, but John Fogerty will celebrate 1969 in style this summer when he embarks on a full-fledged U.S. Tour. Fogerty will run a strict set list of songs from Creedence Clearwater Revival, his iconic band that dominated the airwaves in the late 60s and early 70s.

Tentatively titled the ‘One Extraordinary Year Tour’, the 69-year-old Fogerty will play a series of U.S. dates through the summer, beginning at the Hollywood Bowl on July 15. No other dates have been scheduled, but the “Bad Moon Rising” singer has promised to announce more shows soon.

Creedence Clearwater Revival reached its peak success in the late 60s, spawning a myriad of Billboard Top Ten singles. The band released two studio albums in 1969, a feat essentially unfeasible in today’s modern age. ‘Bayou Country’ was released in January and included hits “Born on the Bayou” and “Proud Mary” while ‘Green River’ dropped in August and produced the singles “Bad Moon Rising”, “Lodi” and the title track “Green River”.

The 1969 World Tour began last November with a 17-show excursion across Canada. Pollstar named the tour one of the Top 20 Global Concert Tours of 2014 and fans will likely pack each U.S. show when dates are announced later this year.

While Fogerty has released one official date in Los Angeles in July, he is expected to hit the road sometime in May. Hardy Har will open his sole-announced SoCal show on July 15. Single tickets to his Hollywood Bowl show go on sale on May 3.
