The 2015 Amway Canadian Championship will conclude next Wednesday on August 26 as the Final will be played between the Vancouver Whitecaps FC against the Montreal Impact at the BC Place in Vancouver.  The eighth edition of the annual Canadian Championship featured five teams, two from the North American Soccer League, and three others from the MLS competing for the Voyager’s Cup with the winner also receiving an entry into the group stage of the 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League.  The tournament had some minor changes this year to help accommodate for the 2015 Women’s World Cup by opting to go with an April to August time frame.

For the second leg of the Championship Final between the Whitecaps FC and Impact, Canadian Championship tickets will have a very affordable average price of $49 on the secondary market.  According to TicketIQ, the cheapest ticket to get in is priced at just $16.

During the first leg of the Canadian Championship, the Vancouver Whitecaps jumped to a demanding lead in a wild second half with two goals, one by Darren Mattocks scoring in the 65th minute, and with Pedro Morales adding a second goal at the 72nd minute through a free kick.  However, Montreal was the aggressor throughout the game, putting the Whitecaps on the defensive for much of the game, but despite more shots, had nothing to show for it until finally breaking through in the 84th minute by a corner kick as Laurent Ciman out-jumped everyone to head the ball home.  Jackson-Hamel would even the score just a minute later and while Montreal outplayed Vancouver for much of the match, they only had a draw to show for it and will have to score against Vancouver at BC Place to win because of the two away goals Vancouver had in the first leg.

For the second leg of the Championship, Montreal can’t fall victim by being beat on only efficiency of other teams.  Despite dominating the gameplay and taking 16 more shots than Vancouver, they almost found themselves on the losing end as Vancouver had only four shots for the whole game that were all on target which resulted in two scores.

The Montreal Impact are the two-time defending champions and will still be the favorites despite being on the road for the second leg of the Canadian Championship against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, who are looking for their first Canadian Championship after finishing as the runner up five times.
