Blondie Guitarist Chris Stein to Host Public Discussion with Artist Shepard Fairey in NYC this Friday

September 15, 2015

It was a memorable summer for new wave rockers Blondie, who completed a month-long expedition across North America and found co-headlining support from Morrissey and Melissa Etheridge at select dates. With downtime before their next adventure in the studio, guitarist Chris Stein will take the stage in a new manner this weekend when he interviews contemporary street artist Shepard Fairey in New York City on Friday.

Fairey, who is perhaps best known as the creator for Barack Obama’s iconic “Hope” slogan during his 2008 presidential run, will talk to Stein in front of a public audience at the NeueHouse in Manhattan in promotion of his new work, Covert to Overt: The Under|Overground Art of Shepard Fairey. As the bill for the show reads, Fairey’s “Hope” work is widely considered the most prominent American sign since Uncle Sam.

Fans hoping to attend can RSVP at NeueHouse.com and join the conversation by tweeting @NeueHouse or @OBEYGIANT. As for Blondie’s plans, they’ll likely hit the studio sometime next year following 2014’s Ghosts of Download, which was featured in the two-disc Blondie 4(0) Ever compilation.
