Cavaliers, Warriors Drawing High Prices For NBA Opening Night Tickets

October 20, 2015

Golden State Warriors

In a week the 2015-16 NBA season will kick off. The official start of the season will commence with three games on October 27, and will feature both teams that played in last season’s NBA Finals. The Cleveland Cavaliers will open on the road in Chicago, while the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors will celebrate their Finals win at home.

Cleveland will start the night off with a matchup against the Chicago Bulls at United Center. The opening night game has an average price of $350.48 and a get-in price of $89. It will be the second most expensive regular season game on the secondary market for the Bulls, trailing only an April 9 game against Cleveland. That game has an average price of $507.54 with a get-in price of $100.

Golden State will then open their title defense at Oracle Arena against the New Orleans Pelicans. With Anthony Davis leading the Pelicans, New Orleans is expected to take another step forward this season after making the playoff as the No. 8 seed, but getting swept by Golden State last season. It will be an exciting matchup to start the season and it will also come at a high cost on the secondary market. Warriors vs Pelicans tickets have an average price of $479.81 with a get-in price of $122.
There will also be a third game on opening night, but it will be one vastly overshadowed by the other two. Last season’s No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Atlanta Hawks, will host the Detroit Pistons at Philips Arena. The game will just eclipse the $100 mark with an average of $105.45, and a get-in price of just $22.
