The Roots, Cyndi Lauper & More To Play David Bowie Tribute Concert at Carnegie Hall in March

The world shuddered early Monday morning as news of David Bowie's passing was made public, and several big-named artists are wasting no time paying tribute to the original "Starman". On March 31 Carnegie Hall in New York City will welcome a myriad of performances from The Roots, Cyndi Lauper, Jakob Dylan, The Mountain Goats, Bettye LaVette, Ann Wilson, Perry Ferrell and more "surprise guests" in honor of the life and influence of Bowie.

Being dubbed "The Music of David Bowie", the concert will benefit music education programs that serve underprivileged youth. The Music of David Bowie tickets are now onsale are already driving big demand on resale outlets. Bowie's longtime producer Tony Visconti will be putting the house band together for the memorial gig.

Bowie released his final album, Blackstar, just four days ago, on his 69th birthday. He succumbed to an 18-month battle with liver cancer at his home in New York City on Sunday.
