Copa America Final Tickets Averaging Over $1,000 on Resale Market

June 23, 2016

(UPDATE 6/23/16) Lionel Messi, meet Arturo Vidal.

The Copa America Centenario Final will see Argentina and Chile play each another at MetLife Stadium this Sunday, June 26. And while it will undoubtedly be the tournament's most anticipated match, fans will be paying up to be on hand in East Rutherford this weekend.

According to TicketIQ the average price for Copa America Centenario Final tickets is $1,020.15 on the secondary market. That easily makes it the most expensive match of the tournament - no other match came close to rivaling that price, with a Quarterfinals match between Peru and Colombia serving as the second top-priced match at an average price of $426.97.

If looking just to get into MetLife Stadium on Sunday, the cheapest ticket is currently listed from $388 in Section 213. The top-priced seat is listed in Section 114, Row 8 for an even $3,000.

Argentina travels to New Jersey after routing the U.S. in a 4-0 victory in the Semifinals at NRG Stadium on Tuesday. Highlighted by a magnificent Messi goal, Argentina's win over the USMNT propels the country to its second-straight Copa America Final. Coincidentally, the country played Chile in the Final last year, though fell in a 4-1 penalty shoot-out. It served as Chile's first-ever Copa America title. Argentina enters the Final this weekend in search of its 15th championship, which would tie Uruguay for most in the tournament's 100-year history.

Copa America Centenario Third Place Match to Feature USA & Colombia; Tickets Averaging Just Above $200

(UPDATE 6/23/16) The Copa America Centenario Semifinals saw Argentina and Chile respectively shut out the U.S. and Colombia, officially setting the stage for the Final at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, June 26. While the match will be among the most anticipated - and most expensive - of the entire tournament, it appears that fervor has dropped for the Third Place Match at University of Phoenix Stadium on Saturday, at least in terms of secondary market ticket demand.

According to TicketIQ the average resale price for Copa America Centenario Third Place Match tickets is $202.88. That is cheaper on average than both the U.S.'s Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches against Ecuador and Argentina, respectively. The cheapest ticket to Saturday's match in Glendale is now $82 in Section 454.

The U.S. enters the Third Place Match after falling to Argentina 4-0 in the Semifinal on Tuesday. Colombia travels to Arizona after surrendering two goals in a 2-0 defeat to Chile Wednesday night. The USMNT played Colombia in the opening match of the tournament at Levi's Stadium on June 3, the first-ever Copa America match played on American soil in its 100-year history.

With Semifinals Set, USMNT vs Argentina Tickets Are 50% More Expensive Than Colombia vs Chile

(UPDATE 6/22/16) Four clubs remain in the 2016 Copa America Centenario after a thrilling Quarterfinals round last week. The United States held on to defeat Ecuador in Seattle last Thursday, propelling the team to its most important match in the nation's history against Argentina on Tuesday. On the other side of the Semifinals stage sit Colombia and Chile, who will meet at Soldier Field on Wednesday night in hopes of advancing to the Final on Sunday.

Though the USMNT is a clear underdog against Lionel Messia and Argentina, there still exists a large demand for Copa America Semifinals tickets on the resale market in the hours before the match starts. Tuesday's match at NRG Stadium will be significantly more expensive than that of Colombia vs Chile on Wednesday, with USA vs Argentina tickets averaging $350 and the cheapest available ticket listed from $168. Wednesday's match in Chicago now owns a secondary market average of $232 and a get-in price of $78, marking a 50.8% premium for tickets in Houston.

The USMNT will need to overcome major odds in hopes of defeating an Argentina team that has been nothing short of flawless through its first four games. Argentina cruised through the Group Stage, compiling wins against Chile, Panama and Bolivia, with the latter two matches shutout victories. A 4-1 win over Venezuela in the Quarterfinals has now penned a meeting with Jurgen Klinsmann's club, who posted as many points (6) as fellow Group A contestant Colombia through the opening round of play.

Colombia and Chile will meet in a less hostile, albeit equally as important, environment on Wednesday night. Columbia punched its ticket to the Semifinals with a 4-2 penalty shot win over Peru last Friday. Chile eviscerated Mexico in Santa Clara one day later to clinch a spot in the Semis, posting seven goals while keeping Mexico off the scoreboard.

The Copa America Centenario Final is scheduled for Sunday night at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. As it stands now, the average resale price for Copa American Centenario Final tickets is $1,084. If looking to just get past the gates, the cheapest tickets are listed from $388 each. The Third Place match on Saturday will be the cheapest remaining match of the tournament, with tickets averaging $227.38 and the get-in price starting from $77.
