Cubs & Mets Square Off in Three of This Week's Most Expensive MLB Games

July 18, 2016

An NLCS rematch is on tap at Wrigley Field this week as the Chicago Cubs set to welcome the New York Mets for three games between Monday and Wednesday. A slew of marquee pitchers will take the mound for each team, including a southpaw duel betweeen Jon Lester and Steven Matz Monday night. It comes as no surprise, then, that all three games appear on this week's most expensive MLB games list.

7/20/16 New York Mets @ Chicago Cubs (Jake Arrieta Cy Young Bobblehead Giveaway) | Avg. Price: $338.29 | Get-in: $85

The Mets have had the Cubs' number over their last two series meetings dating back to last year. After going 0-7 against the Cubs in the regular season last year, the Mets went on to sweep the Cubs to win the National League pennant. The Mets would continue streaking against the Cubs in late-June, taking another four games at Citi Field.

They'll hope to keep the wins coming this week, and Wednesday's finale at Wrigley will be the most expensive game of the series. Cubs tickets against the Mets on Wednesday are averaging $338.29, likely also receiving a boost in ticket demand due to the Jake Arrieta bobblehead being received by the first 10,000 fans in attendance. If looking to just get in, the cheapest ticket is listed from $85. Kyle Hendricks is expected to get the start for the Cubs against the ageless Bartolo Colon.

7/19/16 San Francisco Giants @ Boston Red Sox (Pet Brock Giveaway) | Avg. Price: $306.13 | Get-in: $80

After taking two of three from the New York Yankees over the weekend, the Boston Red Sox return home to welcome the San Francisco Giants to Fenway Park. The first 15,000 fans in attendance will receive a "Pet Brock" in celebration of Red Sox player Brock Holt.

It will likely be the most notable pitching matchup in the Majors this week, too, as reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Jake Arrieta takes the hill against Mets' ace Noah Syndergaard.

7/23/16 Seattle Mariners @ Toronto Blue Jays | Avg. Price: $211.31 | Get-in: $24

Rounding out this week's top games list will be a Saturday game between the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.
