Paramore & Foster The People Announced 2018 Summer Tour

March 9, 2018

Rock band Paramore and Foster the People are joining forces for a 24-date summer tour, the bands announced this week. The tour kicks off in Boston on May 24 and works its way west, ending at Colorado’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheater on July 24. There are two additional dates in Japan, one in Osaka, the other in Tokyo, about a month after the North American tour ends.

Both bands toured last year. Paramore’s “After the Laughter Tour” was in support of the studio album of the same name and featured four hit singles. The band has plans for its third “Parahoy!” event — a a cruise from Miami to Nassau — in April. Foster the People’s, “Sacred Hearts Tour,” was a worldwide endeavor.

According to data from TicketIQ.com, Paramore commanded $142 for tickets on the secondary market last year while Foster the People commanded $86. Paramore has paired up with other bands to co-headline in the past — in 2010, the band headlined the Honda Civic Tour and was supported by Tegan and Sara for most to the dates; and in 2014, it paired with Fall Out Boy for the “Monumentour.” According to TicketIq.com, the “Honda Civic Tour” cost fans an average of $123 and the “Monumentour” ran about $135.

The upcoming tour is in support of 2017 album releases for both bands. The albums share the names of the 2017 tours.

This summer the bands will visit a mix of cities big and small, including St. Augustine, Fla., Bangor, Me., Philadelphia, New Orleans and Los Angeles, where they’ll play at The Forum.

Both bands have spent significant time on the road during the last decade. The upcoming tour will be the fourth for both bands.

Paramore has released five studio albums since 2005. Though Paramore has undergone several changes in musicians, the band has released five studio albums, including “Paramore” in 2013, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was the top album in multiple countries around the world, including U.K, Australia and Brazil. The single “Ain’t if Fun,” won Grammys for best rock song and for songwriters Hayley Williams and Taylor York.

Foster the People has released three albums and received three Grammy nominations for its “Torches” album and the single “Pumped Up Kicks.”
