# Despite Injuries, New York Yankees Tickets Still One of the Most Expensive in Baseball

 March 28, 2013

by [Jesse Lawrence](https://blog.ticketiq.com/blog/author/jesse-lawrence)

With a host of injuries and departures, the 2013 version of the New York Yankees looks markedly different from the rosters of years past. With Derek Jeter inevitable trip to the DL looming, there will only be two players from last year’s opening day lineup taking the field at Yankee Stadium on April 1st to open the 2013 season—second baseman Robinson Cano and outfielder Brett Gardner. Many pundits, bloggers, and analysts have already counted them out. However, the Yankees fan and ticket buyer, isn't counting them out just yet. Currently, [New York Yankees tickets](http://www.tiqiq.com/mlb/new-york-yankees-tickets) at [Yankee Stadium](http://www.tiqiq.com/seating-chart/yankee-stadium) in 2013 rank 4th in terms of average price across baseball, and are actually 11% more expensive than they were at this point last year.

**MLB Top Average Tickets Prices (% change)**

1. [Boston Red Sox](http://www.tiqiq.com/mlb/boston-red-sox-tickets): $119 (-24%)
2. [Detroit Tigers](http://www.tiqiq.com/mlb/detroit-tigers-tickets): $112 (+70%)
3. [Toronto Blue Jays](http://www.tiqiq.com/mlb/toronto-blue-jays-tickets): $101 (-9%)
4. New York Yankees: $100 (+11%)
5. [Chicago Cubs](http://www.tiqiq.com/mlb/chicago-cubs-tickets): $99 (-9%)

As the season goes on, New York Yankees tickets will surely drop in average price--they do for all teams. The amount that price drops, however, with depend on whether this will be [1965 all over again](http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/NYY/1965.shtml) or if the Yanks can overcome the injuries and remain at the top of the AL East.
