TicketIQ Top 25: Week 6 Update #2

October 9, 2013

Yesterday we broke down half of the TicketIQ Top 25 week 6 update, here's the second half of that breakdown:

UCLA football tickets were able to crack the TicketIQ rankings last week. This week, they moved up to #20 despite having their average ticket price decrease by four percent to $123. There is a lot of hype around UCLA this season with the Bruins ranked #11 nationally after struggling with consistency the past few years. The Bruins have found their coach of the future in Jim L. Mora and have a 4-0 start to this season, including a commanding win in Nebraska. The Bruins will be tested in the next few weeks including trips to #2 Oregon and #5 Stanford. Ticket prices should soar for those two attractive games.

Johnny Football has become a household name and his allure has been huge for Texas A&M football tickets. Prices for the Aggies went up six percent this week to $192 average per ticket and moved Texas A&M to #4 in the TicketIQ Top 25. What makes Manziel so impressive is that he is able to gain so much attention off the field but still has been able to product on the field. Texas A&M is 4-1 with the lone loss coming to #1 Alabama. Even in that game Manziel kept the game close, only losing by one touchdown. Although there are not any home games left for the Aggies that are eye-popping, they do have big dates against the Tigers of Baton Rouge and Columbia. Also expect prices to soar if Manziel is still in the Heisman race come December.

Notre Dame has been an interesting tidbit in the TicketIQ rankings. The Irish stayed pat at the #3 spot again this week despite being unranked. Notre Dame football tickets are averaging $224, a six percent drop from last week. At 4-2 the Irish have a bye week, setting up a date at home against another unranked team, USC. Unfortunately for the Irish, the game against the Trojans will be the biggest home game left on the schedule. It would not be surprising to see the Irish fall out of the Top 5 unless they can stir some buzz in the coming weeks.

The Cornhuskers were able to crack the Top 10 this week with an average ticket price of $151 even though like Notre Dame, they are unranked. Expect Nebraska football tickets to become higher in demand with the ‘Huskers at 4-1 and vying for the top spot in the Big Ten Legends division. The team also has a big matchup with #19 Northwestern at home in a few weeks. Nebraska also made a recent change to Memorial Stadium this year, bringing the capacity of the stadium to over 90,000 fans. Depending on how the next few weeks go, Nebraska could be a team to look out for in the Big Ten lead by senior QB Taylor Martinez.

Georgia made the highest jump in average ticket price out of any team in the TicketIQ Top 25 this week at 12%. After the opening week loss to Clemson, the Bulldogs have beaten both South Carolina and LSU at Sanford Stadium. All eyes were on QB Aaron Murray, who has been scrutinized in his career for not being able to win big games. Georgia has two ranked teams left on the schedule including Missouri at home this week. The Bulldogs also face bitter rival Florida in Jacksonville for the Okefenokee Oar. Georgia football tickets are averaging $186 per ticket and do not look like they are slowing down. With Georgia cracking the Top 5 this week, expect them to stay in the Top 10 as long as Aaron Murray can take care of business.

Florida football tickets took the 3rd largest tumble in the TicketIQ Top 25 rankings at a 12 percent decrease in price. Although the Gators have not played a ranked opponent yet, they have a heavy dose left on the schedule starting this week against #10 LSU. Florida goes on to play Missouri, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida State before the season comes to a close. A major reason for the negativity and drop in prices amongst Gator fans is the loss of starting QB Jeff Driskel in late September. Tyler Murphy has done a good job to come in as the starting QB but it is very hard to replace a top talent in Driskel. Also, the only ranked game to be played at “The Swamp” in Gainesville is against Florida State. Florida plays its annual game against Georgia in Jacksonville
