TicketIQ Top 25 Week 7 Update #2

October 17, 2013

Yesterday we posted our first of two weekly Top 25 update articles. Here's a little more info on this week's update:

Jim L. Mora has led the Bruins to an undefeated 5-0 start including this past weekend’s win over California. UCLA has not played this well in years, earning a #9 ranking in the AP poll. The offensive spark is a major reason for UCLA’s success. The Bruins have not scored less than 34 points in any game they have played this season. Mora has put exciting football on the field and is translating into wins. UCLA football tickets dropped three spots to #23 in the TicketIQ Top 25 rankings but did not change in overall average ticket price at $123. Bruins ticket prices will be dependent on how the team plays in the next two weeks on the road against #13 Stanford and #2 Oregon.

Texas A&M came out on top this past weekend in a close game in Oxford against Ole Miss. There was a scare amongst college football fans when Johnny Manziel went down in a non-contact play and had to be attended by the medical staff. However, he returned shortly after and showed again why he is in the Heisman race in the 41-38 win. The Aggies will host #24 Auburn this weekend looking to jump out to a 6-1 start. Texas A&M football tickets stayed at #4 in the TicketIQ rankings this week but the average price did decrease by one percent to $189 a pop. Expect the Aggies to stay in the upper echelon of the rankings, especially while Johnny Football is around.

Notre Dame used their bye this week to prepare for their game this weekend with USC. Head coach Brian Kelly already said this week, “This is our rivalry game.” The Irish are very lucky their national brand is keeping their ticket prices higher than expected. Notre Dame football tickets are still at #3 in our rankings and only went down one percent this week to $221 average price. The only ranked team the Irish will play the remainder of the year is when they take a trip out West to #13 Stanford.

Aaron Murray has been criticized in his college career for not being able to win the big game for Georgia. He finally did against #6 LSU a few weeks ago but that win is a distant memory in National Championship hopes after the Bulldogs lost at home to #25 Missouri this past weekend. Still Georgia football tickets have been a tough get this season, staying in the #5 slot in the TicketIQ Top 25 rankings at $185. The one percent decrease could have been a lot worse after a disappointing loss but the ‘Dawgs still have a favorable schedule left. Georgia fans are still excited for the annual matchup in Jacksonville against the Gators in early November.

Speaking of the Gators, they lost a low-scoring match this past weekend to LSU. Les Miles and company have impressed thus far with a 6-1 record. LSU football tickets have also impressed in the TicketIQ Top 25 ranking, posting up at the #9 spot this week and staying in the Top 10. The average ticket price of $160 makes a lot of sense considering not only how the team has played so far but how LSU still has to play Alabama and Texas A&M. With those big games coming up in a few weeks, look for tickets to be a tough get.

Florida State has found their quarterback in Jameis Winston. Winston has been a freshman sensation for the Seminoles. He has already thrown for 1441 yards and 17 TDs in five games. Granted the ‘Noles have not played have not played the best talent so far this season but they did dominate #25 Maryland at home this past weekend. The big test for FSU will come this week in the game everybody around college football is eager to watch. The Seminoles will travel to Death Valley to take on #3 Clemson in a battle of two high prolific quarterbacks. As a result, Florida State football tickets took a massive spike in the TicketIQ Top 25 of 70%. FSU tickets are now averaging $175 also due to Miami and Florida still on the schedule. The primetime matchup this week between two ACC powerhouses will be must-watch TV.
