Forbes: Masters Tickets Remain Most Expensive In Golf

March 18, 2014

Earlier today, we published another article on Forbes, this time talking about Masters tickets and how despite a higher ticket quantity available and lower prices, the Masters is still the most expensive golf tournament in the country. Here's some of the article:

Getting into Augusta National next month for the Masters is one of the toughest challenges for a sports fan. Masters tickets are amongst the toughest tickets in all of sports year in and year out. This year is no exception with the average price on the secondary market currently at $1,595. However, unlike last year, there is a significant amount of inventory available for this years tournament which starts on April 7th. This year, there are over 1,400 tickets listed for sale across major exchanges compared to less than 100 last year. As a result of the low inventory last year, at $2,161, prices were as expensive as any previous year that TicketIQ has tracked the market.

While this year’s event has higher inventory and lower prices than years past, it’s still by far the most expensive golf tournament in the country. As a point of comparison, the average price for this years PGA tournament is $193. This years tournament will take place in Valhalla Golf Club, which is located Louisville, Kentucky. This years U.S. Open golf championship will be played in Pinehurst, North Carolina and has a current average price of $187.

The article goes on to compare it to another classic American sporting event, the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Derby tickets. Click here to read the rest of the article.
