Ed Sheeran Announces 2014 Tour Dates
April 28, 2014
He’s played the Summer Olympics. He’s played Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee. He’s even played the Grammys in duet with Elton John. And now, Ed Sheeran is embarking on his first-ever headlining tour of North America, with Ed Sheeran tickets currently on sale to the public.
The meteoric rise of the 23-year-old English singer/songwriter has been astonishing. After toiling in obscurity for several years, Sheeran (who reportedly played 312 shows in 2009) was randomly discovered by Jamie Foxx in Los Angeles the next year, who was so blown away by the young talent that he lent Sheeran use of his personal recording studio.
Sheeran’s debut EP, 2011’s No. 5 Collaborations Project, reached the number two slot on the iTunes chart without a record label or any promotion. A few months later, Sheeran released his debut album +, which sold over one million copies in the U.K. on its way to becoming certified quadruple platinum. After Elton John proclaimed himself a fan, Sheeran continued to raise his profile by touring with Taylor Swift and writing songs for One Direction.
Recorded in Los Angeles with famed producer Rick Rubin, Sheeran’s new album x (pronounced “multiply”) is set for release June 23. In support of the album, Sheeran’s x North American tour kicks off August 22 in Seattle and concludes September 18 in Toronto. You may view the full tour dates below:
