M.I.A. Gets Set For 2014 North American Tour
April 23, 2014
Currently locked in a legal battle with the NFL, hip-hop’s most uncompromising female star will head out onto the road this summer following the release of M.I.A. tickets for a 14-date tour across North America.
The 38-year-old, who is being sued for $16.6 million by the professional sports league for her middle finger salute during her Super Bowl half-time appearance with Madonna back in 2012, will first take to the stage this year at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival on March 28 – M.I.A. tickets for which are available on TicketIQ at a get-in price of $556 and an average price of $840 (3-day passes $458/$995).
The British Sri-Lankan will then combine various solo dates including Upper Darby’s Tower Theater on April 25, Toronto’s Younge-Dundas Square on May 3 and Queens’ Knockdown Center on May 8/9 with further festival sets at Asheville’s Moogfest on Apr 26 (5-day passes $272/$375) and George’s Sasquatch! Music Festival on May 24 (3-day passes $419/$865).
The three-time Grammy nominee, who will be joined on her headlining dates by A$AP Mob rapper A$AP Ferg, will then head over to Europe for performances at the likes of Finland’s Provinssi Rock, France’s Les Eurorockeenes and London’s Lovebox, eventually wrapping up at Spain’s Benicassim Festival on July 20.
Alongside all the singles from her fourth studio effort, Matangi (“Bad Girls,” “Bring The Noize,” “Come Walk With Me”), which peaked at No.23 on the Billboard 200 last November, fans with M.I.A. tickets should also expect to hear the likes of her debut release, “Galang,” her sole US Hot 100 hit “Paper Planes” and protest songs “Sunshowers” and “Bird Flu.”
