After Three Years, The Strokes Return To The Concert Stage
May 16, 2014
The Strokes have returned, the legendary rock quintet are playing their first shows together in almost three years. The Strokes make their triumphant return on Saturday, May 31st at the Capital Theatre in Port Chester, New York (45 minutes north of Manhattan). General admission for that show is priced at $30, a bargain for the Strokes playing in their home state.
The Strokes tickets went on sale the morning of May 16th, and as expected, sold out instantly. As of 12pm that day, over 100 tickets were listed on TicketIQ’s re-sale site, an aggregate of all secondary market listings, with the cheapest ticket’s asking price set at 4 times the $30 face price. The most expensive ticket listed is currently $528.
The Strokes are also set to play the fourth annual
Governors Ball Music Festival on Randall’s Island on Saturday, June 7th. Fans who have purchased the full three day pass can see front-man Julian Casablancas (fresh off a Coachella appearance and Daft Punk collaboration) on Friday night as he plays a solo set of material from his upcoming album. Saturday night sees the Strokes take the stage to play to their hometown before that night is capped off with a performance by
Jack White.
Despite the clear demand, the Strokes have not announced any other shows yet. But with the success of ticket sales, fans should be on the lookout for announcements this summer.
