Outkast Add Second Atlanta Hometown Show
June 19, 2014
Scheduled to coincide with the seminal hip-hop duo’s 20th anniversary, one of this year’s most hotly-anticipated reunion tours is now gathering steam following the release of Outkast tickets for a further batch of festival dates.
The Atlanta rappers, who are set to appear at 40 different festivals this spring/summer, have slowly trickled information out about their plans ever since they confirmed their return from an eight-year hiatus back in January.
A trio of Scandinavian shows (Sweden’s Way Out West Festival, Finland’s Flow Festival, Norway’s Øya Festival) and sets at Netherlands’ North Sea Festival and Germany’s Rock ‘n’ Heim are the latest to be added to their itinerary, taking their overall tally so far to 23.
Andre 3000, who will soon be seen playing Jimi Hendrix in the biopic All Is By My Side, and Big Boi, who recently contributed a track (“Mother Of Dragons”) to the official Game Of Thrones mix-tape, will kick off their ambitious trek at the opening weekend of Coachella on Apr 11-13. Single-day Outkast tickets for their comeback show are currently unavailable on TicketIQ but three-day passes are available at a get-in price of $495 and average price of $1108.
After returning to Indio’s Empire Polo Club for the festival’s second weekend on Apr 18-20 (3-day passes $506/$858), the pair will then take in the likes of Tampa’s Big Guava Festival on May 2 (get-in price $139), Milwaukee’s Summerfest on June 29 ($67/$168) and Toronto’s OVO Fest on August 3 ($95/$356) with Gulf Shores’ Hangout Music Festival, George’s Sasquatch! Music Festival and Dover’s Firefly Music Festival just some of the other events also set to be graced by their charismatic presence.
Described as a celebration of their ‘unique and influential sound,’ the tour will no doubt see the duo trawl through their impressive back catalogue. So fans with Outkast tickets should expect to hear material spanning from their 1994 debut Southernplayalisticadillacmusik right up to 2006’s Idlewild including early hits “Player’s Ball” and “Elevators (Me & You),” the Grammy-winning “The Whole World” and their trio of US number ones (“Ms. Jackson,” “Hey Ya!,” “The Way You Move”).
