St. Louis Cardinals at Los Angeles Dodgers | Avg. Price $67.80 | Get-in Price: $26
Adam Wainwright (10-3, 2.08 ERA) vs Josh Beckett (5-4, 2.28), 7:10 pacific time
The St. Louis Cardinals travels to Los Angeles tonight to start a four game weekend series in a rematch of last year’s National League Championship Series. Both teams currently sit in second place in their respective divisions, though the Dodgers have one of the wild card spots as the Cardinals are a half game behind. The $67.80 average price for the game is 18% above the season average for Dodgers tickets.
Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright will pitch for St. Louis for his 16th start in a great season. After finishing second in the CY Young voting last year, Wainwright has established himself as one of the favorites around the halfway point of the season. His sub-1 WHIP is a large reason he has been able to give up only 25 runs in 108.1 innings so far this season.
Josh Beckett’s record is mediocre at just 5-4, but the 34-year-old is experiencing his best season as a Dodger. In 14 starts he’s struck out almost a batter per inning with 84 strikeouts in 86.2 innings. His problem this season has been allowing the home run, though that’s been a recurring trend throughout Beckett’s career.
Even as neither sits in first place, both are making pushes to overtake the division lead. With the recent success of both of these teams, this could be a preview of another postseason series.
