The Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, which will be played on January 1st at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida, will pit the Missouri Tigers (10-3), who finished 16th in the last AP Poll against the Minnesota Golden Gophers (8-4), who finished 25th in the last AP Poll. After winning six straight games, Missouri was outclassed and dominated by the Alabama Crimson Tide, 42-13. Alabama ran all over Missouri’s defense to the tune of 242 yards and four touchdowns. Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk was unable to rally the Tigers, but threw for 272 passing yards and one touchdown in the loss. Missouri’s offense was only able to rush for 41 yards against Alabama’s defense. Last season, Missouri was able to bounce back after losing the SEC Championship and defeated Oklahoma State. Fans will pay above average ticket prices to see whether Missouri can win two straight games.

The average ticket price for Missouri vs. Minnesota is currently $162.56 on the secondary market while the get-in price for the game is $39. That will make this the most expensive Citrus Bowl over the past four seasons on the secondary market.

Minnesota had an up-and-down season as it went 5-3 in Big 10 Conference play. The biggest win of Minnesota’s season occurred at Nebraska when the Golden Gophers won 28-24. Minnesota’s defense held star running back Ameer Abdullah to under 100 yards while outrushing the Cornhuskers, 281-to-174. Minnesota’s rushing attack is averaging 225 yards per game, which is the 28th highest mark in College Football. Running back David Cobb led the way with 1,548 yards and 13 touchdowns while dual-threat quarterback Mitch Leidner added ten rushing touchdowns. Tight end Maxx Williams led the way for Minnesota’s pass catchers. Williams caught 29 passes for 471 yards and seven touchdowns.

While fans can expect to pay top prices to attend the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, a matchup between these two teams should be interesting. Missouri is historically underappreciated and overlooked as a football program while Minnesota will look for its ninth win. This will be the first matchup between these two programs. Expect a fast-paced, physical battle between these two teams.
