Lionel Messi to Join Argentina in Two U.S. Friendlies Later this Month

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi was among the list of 22 players recalled by Argentina manager Gerardo Martino for a pair of friendly matches in the U.S. later this month. Argentina will play El Salvador at FedEx Field in Maryland on March 28 and will wrap with a match against Ecuador at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on March 31. With Messi now in the field, ticket prices on the secondary market are likely to rise in the coming weeks.
The average price for Argentina vs El Salvador tickets on TicketIQ is now $110.99 and get-in price starts at $47. Among other players making a return to the Albiceleste over the friendlies include Zenit defender Ezequiel Garay and Paris Sain-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Argentina’s match against Ecuador three days later in New Jersey will be the more expensive game of the two friendlies. The average secondary price for Argentina vs Ecuador tickets currently average at $126.08, 13.6% above the Maryland match at FedEx Field. The cheapest ticket to the March 31 game is $41.
Messi has had a dominant year while playing for Barcelona. The 27-year-old forward has already posted 30 goals and 40+ in all competitions, making it his sixth consecutive season in achieving such a feat. With the captain returning to Argentina’s team for friendly play later this month, tickets are sure to experience a significant price increase as the matches draw closer.
