My Morning Jacket Announce Album Release Date, Full Summer Tour
March 3, 2015
My Morning Jacket is hitting the road all summer long, but that’s not the only news the quintet has in store this year. The band will release its seventh studio album, “The Waterfall”, on May 4 via ATO/Capitol Records, the first of two MMJ LPs scheduled to drop over the next two years.
“The Waterfall” will be My Morning Jacket’s first album since 2011’s “Circuital”. “Big Decisions” will be the album’s first single, which can be heard below. The majority of the forthcoming record was produced at Panoramic House in Stinson Beach, California, which strongly influenced its psychedelic sound.
As for the subsequent tour, the band will play 46 dates from May to September and will hit a plethora of national and global festivals along the way. Performances are scheduled at the Hangout Music Festival, Boston Calling Festival, Governors Ball Music Festival, Dublin’s Electric Picnic Festival and Lollapalooza Berlin, to name a few.
The tour kicks off at the Georgia Theatre on May 15 and wraps four months later at Lollapalooza Berlin on September 13. Eight supporting acts will rotate as show openers, including Floating Action, Hiss Golden Messenger, Hippo Campus and Lizzo.
