Major League Soccer will be entering its 20th season of existence in 2015. During the upcoming season MLS will introduce two expansion teams, Orlando City Soccer Club and New York City FC. Those two clubs will play each other on the opening weekend. The meeting between the two expansion teams will be historic both on and off the field.
The game will be the first MLS game to be broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK. The game will kickoff the first of a four-year deal between the league and the network. This will be one of the biggest games of the MLS season with a crowd of 60,000 expected at the Citrus Bowl. On the secondary market, the average price for Orlando City SC vs NYC FC tickets is $126.20 with a get-in price of $54. Only two of the 14 other home games for Orlando City SC have an average price above $90. A May 17 match against the LA Galaxy has an average price of $91.98. The home season finale against NYCFC on October 16 has an average price of $91.91.
While NYCFC appears to be Orlando City SC’s biggest rival, at least in terms of ticket prices, NYCFC will host a few other clubs with a more expensive average at Yankee Stadium. NYCFC’s most expensive match will come against the New York Red Bulls on June 28 with an average price of $121.57. Two other games in the Bronx, against the New England Revolution and Toronto FC, also have an average price of $100.
