WrestleMania 33 Confirmed for Citrus Bowl in Orlando

There’s still a few weeks until WrestleMania 32 take place at AT&T Stadium, but WrestleMania 33 officially has found a home. WrestleMania 33 will be held on April 2, 2017 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. This will be the second WrestleMania held in Orlando and the third overall in Florida, the other WrestleMania XXVIII at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

WrestleMania was last held in Orlando in 2008, also at the Citrus Bowl. That event, WrestleMania XXIV held 74,635 and was main evented by three top-billed matches. The first was triple threat match for the WWE championship between Randy Orton (c) , Triple H and John Cena. The next match was a No Disqualification match that featured Big Show and boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. The real main event of the night was a match for the World Heavyweight Championship between Edge (c) and The Undertaker.

WWE has clear ties to the Orlando area -- with the location of the WWE Performance Center -- making it no surprise the city was named the host for WrestleMania 33, though Minneapolis was rumored to have been in the mix with the opening of the new U.S. Bank Stadium.

WrestleMania 33 will have a tough time following this year’s show if the secondary market has any say. WrestleMania 32 is currently the most expensive WWE show TicketIQ has tracked on the secondary market since 2010. THe current average price for WrestleMania 32 tickets is $563.02 with a get-in price of $141, both records. WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami had an average ticket price of $161.21, which was the second least expensive over the past five years, beating only WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans.

WWE is expected to hold a press conference on Tuesday afternoon to officially announce the news, though it was already confirmed on the official website earlier in the day.
