Tim Duncan will be getting some well-deserved praise in San Antonio next month.
The former Spurs superstar, who spent 19 seasons in silver and black and served as the backbone of five NBA championship teams, will be honored at AT&T Center on December 18 following the Spurs-Pelicans game. Duncan will have his No. 21 jersey retired by the Spurs, becoming the eighth player in franchise history to receive that honor.
And for fans hoping to be on hand as he watches his jersey ascend into the rafters, Spurs tickets for Tim Duncan's jersey retirement ceremony are posting massive premiums on the secondary market. On TicketIQ, the average resale price for Spurs vs. Pelicans tickets is now $724.41 and the cheapest available tickets are listed from $276 each. That makes it the second most expensive regular season Spurs game since at least 2010, when TicketIQ began tracking resale market data.

Over the last six seasons, only a game against the Golden State Warriors in March of 2016 owned a higher resale average than the upcoming December 18 game against the Pelicans. That game, which served as the Warriors' first visit back to San Antonio since the Western Conference Finals the season prior, owned a $857 average. However, the get-in price for that game was $241, making Duncan's retirement ceremony a more expensive ticket just to get past the gates.

The first overall pick in the 1997 NBA Draft, Duncan lead the Spurs to a playoff berth in each of his 19 NBA seasons, with the Spurs winning at least 50 games in each of his last 17 seasons. He was selected to 15 All-Star Games, won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1998, league MVP Award twice (2002 and 2003) and was NBA Finals MVP in three of his five title seasons. Alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Duncan is one of just two players to record at least 26,000 points, 15,000 rebounds and 3,000 blocks in his career.
