Having just completed their first major North American tour in three years, Benjamin Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden will continue to showcase their unique blend of psychedelia, prog-rock and indie-pop with the release of MGMT tickets for a further series of dates across August and September.
Following performances at the likes of Kelowna Music & Arts Festival on the weekend of July 5-7, Lansing’s Common Ground Music Festival on July 12 and Cincinnati’s Bunbury Music Festival on July 13, the Connecticut duo will then combine various other festival commitments with their own headline shows, the first of which takes place at Las Vegas’ The Pool At The Cosmopolitan on August 26.
Alongside sets at Los Angeles’ FYF Festival on August 25, Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival on September 2 and Salt Lake City’s Twilight Concert Series on September 5, the pair will also take in Davis’ Mondavi Center on August 29, Troutdale’s Edgefield Amphitheatre on September 1 and Boise’s Knitting Factory on September 4 before heading across the Atlantic for a 17-date European tour.
MGMT tickets are currently only available for two dates, the August 31 gig at Bend’s Les Schwab Amphitheater, which has a get-in price of $86 and average price of $187, and the Sept 6 concert at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium ($87/$109). But be sure to keep checking back for updates on the availability of MGMT tickets.
Produced by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala) and reportedly inspired by Aphex Twin and house music, the band’s self-titled and self-described ‘weird’ third album is scheduled for release through Columbia Records on Sept 17 and several new tracks including “Your Life Is A Lie,” “Alien Days” and “Mystery, Disease” have already been unveiled during their Spring tour.
However, fans of their avant-garde sound should also expect to hear plenty of material from their 2007 debut Oracular Spectacular including lead single “Time To Pretend,” festival anthem “Electric Feel” and their sole US Hot 100 hit, “Kids.”
While despite the mixed reaction to their more experimental 2010 follow-up, Congratulations, the group have also recently given the likes of “Siberian Dream,” “Flash Delirium” and “I Found A Whistle” an airing alongside a cover version of cult 60s psych-rock singer-songwriter Faine Jade’s “Introspection.”
