Metallica 2015

Fans of the biggest band in metal history may soon be able to get their hands on tickets to see Metallica following reports that the group are planning to launch a 2015 headlining world tour.

The nine-time Grammy winners have already confirmed several dates over the next twelve months including headline sets at the inaugural Las Vegas leg of the Rock in Rio Festival on May 9, Munich’s Rockavaria on May 31, and the UK’s Reading/Leeds Festival on August 29/30.

But the rock legends, who have also confirmed dates in Sweden, Germany, Austria and Russia for next year, are rumored to be putting together a more extensive run of shows across North America in support of their as-yet-untitled tenth studio effort.

Although the band have yet to make any official comment as to whether the tour will be the last to feature frontman and founding member James Hetfield, they have confirmed that they will be releasing 27 live albums of every gig they performed in 2014 in batches of three throughout the year.

The By Request tour, which included shows across Europe and South America, as well as a single Canadian date, allowed fans with Metallica tickets the opportunity to choose the setlist, resulting in the band performing 1988 track “The Frayed Ends of Sanity” live for the first time in their career.

New song “The Lords of Summer” also received its premiere during the tour and those lucky enough to get their hands on Metallica tickets should expect to hear plenty more from the follow-up to 2008’s Death Magnetic, as well as several classics spanning their 32-year back catalogue.
