According to Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, a video tribute will be played for Marion, who was an integral piece on the Mavericks' 2011 Championship team. The 36-year-old played five seasons in Dallas from 2009-2014. Marion is set to retire at the end of the 2014-15 NBA season.

For fans hoping to attend Tuesday's game, ticket prices have fallen considerably on the secondary market since Marion first announced his intentions to retire earlier this year. (1/23/15) Shawn Marion announced yesterday that he'll be retiring from the NBA after this season, wrapping up a very successful 16 year career. The 4-time All Star may be 36, but is still contributing to a slowly-gelling Cleveland Cavaliers team.

Marion is best remembered for his time on the extremely entertaining mid-to-late 2000's Phoenix Suns teams with the likes of Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire, but Marion was also a key part of the Dallas Mavericks' championship run in 2011 over now teammate LeBron James and the Miami Heat. The Cavs already payed their visit to Phoenix earlier this season, but they are yet to visit Dallas.

That matchup happens March 10th, and while it's not much, the average cost Mavs vs Cavs tickets have already seen a 5% price increase since the announcement to $233.42. The cheapest ticket available has also increased to $59.

It's rare in the NBA to pre-plan a retirement during the season, but in Marion's case it gives fans in Dallas one more chance to say “thank you” to “The Matrix” for helping them earn the franchise's lone championship. The remaining Cavaliers schedule is below.
