The Haskell Invitational Tickets Averaging $194 On Secondary Market

July 10, 2015

Monmouth Park Racetrack is a gem in Central New Jersey, but rarely is it the focus of the horse racing world. That will change on August 2 when the track holds The Haskell Invitational. The Haskell Invitational is typically the highlight of the Monmouth Park calendar, but it will have an even bigger draw this year. Among the participating horses will be Triple Crown winner American Pharoah.

The inclusion of the Triple Crown winner has brought huge ticket demand on both the primary and secondary market. Haskell Invitational tickets have already sold out on the primary market and are averaging $192.04 on the secondary market. The current get-in price for the race is $88. However, there will be general admission tickets made available at the venue on race day.

Since 1968 the Haskell Invitational has been held at Monmouth, but under different iterations. Starting in 1981, the race became an invitation-only stakes race for 3-year-olds. It has been run under stakes conditions since 2006. The 1 ⅛ mile track has been no stranger to top tier horses. Recent winners of Triple Crown races have participated in the Haskell including Rachel Alexandra, Big Brown and War Emblem.
As American Pharoah impressively won each leg of the Triple Crown, the horse has a chance to break the record for the longest winning margin at The Haskell. The current record is 9 ¾ lengths by Verrazano in 2013. American won the Belmont Stakes to claim the Triple Crown, against seemingly tougher competition, by 5 ½ lengths.
