Previewing The Gary Clark Jr. Tour & Setlist

September 14, 2015

Gary Clark Jr2

Dubbed as one of this generations best guitar players, Gary Clark Jr. has been known to put on a heck of a live show. While his two studio albums, Black and Blu, and the recently released The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, are eclectic mixes through different genres, his live show tends to be a more crisp and guitar-heavy, as proven by his double album Gary Clark Jr. Live released in 2014. With his second studio album just put out, a tour has been announced to follow.

Clark’s tour schedule will take an interesting turn once the solo dates start. He will play his first solo gigs for two nights at New York City’s Terminal 5 on October 28 and 30. He’ll play the next two nights at the House of Blues in Boston and The Fillmore in Philadelphia before heading to Europe for eight dates starting on November 10. He the won’t start the next leg of the tour until February 18, 2016. During that leg, though, he’ll play 23 shows from the first date at Jannus Live in Saint Petersburg, Florida until April 14 at the Rosemont Theater in Portland. The average secondary market price for Gary Clark Jr. tickets is $104.99 on the secondary market.

Currently Clark can be found opening for Foo Fighters as they take a West Coast swing on their Sonic Highways World Tour. Clark still has 14 dates remaining with Foo Fighters that will take the band through October 17 at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Over that run, Foo Fighters tickets have an average price of $155.70.

Clark will also be stopping by Austin City Limits on both weekends to play shows in his home town. Clark will play on Friday both weekends, as will Foo Fighters in the headlining spot. Austin City Limits tickets for the first Friday have an average price of $232.46 and a get-in price of $132. Tickets for the second Friday have an average of $207.55 and a get-in price of $112.

With Clark setting out to tour for a new album, there are sure to be new songs added to the set. Below is the seltlist from a recent taping of the television program Austin City Limits that could hint to what Clark’s setlist will look like on the tour. If that’s the case, it will open with older songs, but be heavy on the more recent ones.
