Kings Take On Rangers, Devils Over Weekend In Recent Stanley Cup Final Rematches

The Los Angeles Kings have won two of the past four Stanley Cup Finals. Their opponents in two two series were the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers. Those two teams happen to be Los Angeles' opponents this weekend during an East Coast swing.
On Friday night the Kings will head to Madison Square Garden to take on the Rangers, who are winners of four games in a row. The average secondary market price for Friday night's game is $288.19 with a get-in price of $101. However, that prices makes it the third least expensive home game for the Rangers in February, with only games against the Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets coming in with a lower average.
None of those games, though, will be less expensive than a ticket to the Kings' trip to Newark to take on the Devils at Prudential Center. The Sunday afternoon game currently has an average price of $115.60 with a get-in price of $42.
That puts Rangers tickets against the Kings 149.3% more expensive than Devils tickets just two days later. This type of gap between the two is not uncommon during the regular season, as the Rangers have some of the most expensive secondary market tickets in the NHL.
The difference in these two regular season games doesn't even come close to the price difference between the two cities and teams when they hosted the Kings in their respective Stanley Cup Final. The Devils made it to the final round in 2012 and hosted games 1, 2 and 5 before losing the series in Game 6 at Los Angeles. Over New Jersey's three home games, tickets had an average price of $683.99.
Two years later the Rangers were the Eastern Conference representative in the Final against the Kings. In a one-sided series in which individual games were much closer than the final series result, the Rangers hosted just two games -- 3 and 4 -- at Madison Square Garden before losing the series in Game 5. The average price for the two Rangers games was $2,139.75, 212.8% more expensive than the Devils.
Neither team was able to overcome the Kings in the Stanley Cup Final, and both might have trouble with the squad again this year. The Kings head into the weekend with a Pacific Division-leading 67 points, however that is just fourth most in the Western Conference. The Rangers sit in second place of the Metropolitan Division behind the NHL-best Washington Capitals, also with 67 points and the Devils sit in fourth place with 62 points.
Los Angeles' Northeast swing over the weekend will actually start Thursday night in Brooklyn against the New York Islanders. Tickets for that game are easily the cheapest with an average price of $58.48 and a get-in price of just $9.
