The Killers Return For Second North American Leg Of Battle Born World Tour

February 27, 2013

With their previous series of dates interrupted by frontman Brandon Flowers’ unfortunate bout of laryngitis, fans with The Killers tickets will be hoping that the second North American leg of their extensive Battle Born world tour will go off without such a hitch when they return to their homeland in April/May.

The Las Vegas quartet, who last year scored a fourth consecutive Billboard Top 10 entries with the album of the same name, will play twelve dates across the USA and Canada after taking the tour to Australia, Europe and South America, with a current average get-in price on of $85 and an overall average price of $171.

Kicking off with two dates at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on April 27th ($98/$149) and 28th ($71/ $125), the band will then play a gig at New York’s Madison Square Garden on May 14th ($88/$255). They then head up north to Toronto’s Air Canada Centre on May 15th ($74/$136) before coming back to the lower-48 for a show at Camden’s Susquehanna Bank Center on May 19th ($38/$99) that they were forced to reschedule, The Camden data is by far the lowest get-in and average price of the whole tour.

Although there is limited availability for the May 6th concert at El Paso’s Abraham Chavez Theatre (a tour high of $152/$218), there are still a huge number of The Killers tickets available for most shows. Nearly 3000 remain for the performances at Anaheim’s Honda Center on May 1st ($63/$184) and Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on May 18th ($55/$146), the latter of which is the penultimate date before the group head back to Europe to play the biggest gig of their career at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Perhaps aware that they have to raise their game if they want to keep competing with the likes of Coldplay and U2 for the ‘biggest band in the world’ title, their fourth major tour is by far the most extravagant with everything from pyrotechnics to giant neon signs to glitter canyons accompanying their anthemic brand of stadium rock.

Inevitably, their recent 2012 LP has taken precedence on the set-list so far with the singles, “Runaways,” “Miss Atomic Bomb” and “Here With Me” regular fixtures alongside a piano-led solo rendition of “Flesh and Bone.”

But those with The Killers tickets can also look forward to a more familiar journey through their previous three albums with massive hits from Hot Fuss (“Smile Like You Mean It,” “All These Things That I’ve Done,” “Mr. Brightside”), Sam’s Town (“Read My Mind,” “When You Were Young”) and Day and Age (“Spaceman,” “Human”) all given an airing.

And with cover versions of Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” Crowded House’s “Don’t Dream It’s Over” and Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl” all performed at various shows, the Battle Born World Tour is being widely hailed as the most surprising and entertaining of the band’s twelve-year career.
