Justin Timberlake & Jay-Z Join Forces For Legends Of The Summer Tour
March 11, 2013
As the kings of pop and hip-hop respectively, it’s surprising that it’s taken until 2013 for the former ‘N Sync star and Jigga Man to pool their musical talents together. But after finally hooking up on US No. 4 hit, “Suit & Tie,” the pair are now making the most of their new working relationship with the release of Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake tickets for a summer stadium tour.
The dream team will kick off their series of twelve dates on July 17th at Toronto’s Rogers Centre with tickets currently available at a get-in price of $51 and an average price of $185, the lowest of the whole tour. The duo will then move onto the likes of Chicago’s Soldier Field Stadium on July 22nd ($97/$263) and Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium on August 8th ($69/$201), before concluding at Miami Gardens’ Sun Life Stadium on August 16th ($137/$236).
There are currently thousands of Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake tickets still on sale for most dates with the August 11th show at Boston’s Fenway Park currently the highest get-in price at $139 and the July 19th gig at New York’s Yankee Stadium the highest overall average price at $336.
Jay-Z is of course no stranger to the concept of the joint tour. 2009’s Jay-Z and Ciara Live saw him join forces with the R&B chanteuse for six dates across Chicago, Phoenix and Las Vegas. A year later he played four stadium shows in Detroit and New York alongside Eminem as part of the Home & Home Tour. While in 2011, his Watch The Throne tour with Kanye West grossed nearly $50 million over a mammoth 63 concerts in North America and Europe.
Timberlake also isn’t averse to hooking up with the odd superstar either, joining Christina Aguilera on the road in 2003 for the 45-date Justified & Stripped tour. But after focusing on his film career with roles in The Social Network, Friends With Benefits and The Trouble With The Curve, Legends Of The Summer is the first time he has taken to the live stage since 2007’s 119-date FutureSex/LoveShow tour.
The duo have already put in quite a bit of practise for the tour, having performed “Suit & Tie” together at a pre-Super Bowl show in New Orleans, the 55th Grammy Awards at Los Angeles’ Staples Center and at Timberlake’s ‘Five Timers Club’ hosting slot on Saturday Night Live, while they are also set to headline London’s Wireless Festival on July 12th, just five days before the first date.
And with a back catalogue including both the iconic pop of “Like I Love You,” “Cry Me A River” and “SexyBack” and the majestic hip-hop of “Big Pimpin’,” “99 Problems” and “Empire State Of Mind,” under their belts, fans with Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake should expect one of the most polished and hit-packed shows of 2013.
