Chris Cornell Goes Back To Basics For Solo Acoustic ‘Songbook’ Tour
August 21, 2013
Taking a break from Soundgarden’s triumphant reunion, one of the grunge scene’s most enduring frontmen will go back to basics this fall following the release of Chris Cornell tickets for a solo acoustic ‘Songbook’ tour.
The 49-year-old, who will perform tracks covering his entire discography during the 30-date run, will first take to the stage at San Diego’s Balboa Theatre on October 15, just a month after wrapping up a series of European dates with his seminal Seattle outfit.
Accompanied by American-Sri Lankan folk artist Bhi Bhiman, the singer/guitarist will then stop off at the likes of his hometown’s Benaroya Hall on October 20 (TicketIQ get-in price $182/average price $230), New York’s Beacon Theatre on November 16 ($78/$183) and Reading’s Sovereign Performing Arts Center on November 22 ($105/$142) before concluding with a two-night run at Atlantic City’s Borgata Music Box on November 29 ($157/$206) and 30 ($116/$156).
There are still hundreds of Chris Cornell tickets on offer at TicketIQ with the November 3 gig at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium currently the lowest get-in price at $62 (average price $126) and the November 2 show at Madison’s Orpheum Theatre the cheapest average price at $104 (get-in price $82).
The two-time Grammy Award nominee, who will donate one dollar from every ticket sold to The Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation, a non-profit organization which helps vulnerable children, first embraced the unplugged concept back in 2011 in-between recording sessions for Soundgarden’s comeback album, King Animal.
Alongside all the major hits from the band’s previous five studio albums (“Black Hole Sun,” “Fell On Black Days,” “Burden In My Hand”) , fans with Chris Cornell tickets for the first Songbook tour were also treated to stripped-back performances of tracks he first recorded with supergroup Audioslave (“I Am The Highway,” “Doesn’t Remind Me”), one-off tribute band Temple Of The Dog (“All Night Thing,” “Call Me A Dog”) and as a solo artist (“Can’t Change Me,” “Ground Zero”) and cover versions of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” Led Zeppelin’s “Thank You” and John Lennon’s “Imagine.”
