After keeping quiet for most of 2013, Fiona Apple has shown this week that she still possesses the power to surprise. First, there was the unexpected premiere of the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed video for “Hot Knife.” And now the 35-year-old has released Fiona Apple tickets for a collaborative 13-date North American tour with California singer-songwriter Blake Mills.
Entitled ‘Anything We Want: An Evening With Fiona Apple and Blake Mills,’ the duo will kick off their series of fall shows at Portland’s Newmark Theatre on October 3. There are still a handful of tickets for the first taster of this unique live experience on offer at TicketIQ with both the get-in and average price currently listed at $165.
The pair, who first shared the stage during Apple’s The Idler Wheel tour last year, will then take in the likes of Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall on October 7 ($128/$196), Toronto’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre on October 17 ($181/$202), and Philadelphia’s Merriam Theatre on October 19 ($227/$264) before concluding their new-found partnership with two nights at Washington D.C.’s Lincoln Theatre on October 25/26.
With an average price of $194, there’s still a limited supply of Blake Mills and Fiona Apple tickets waiting to be snapped up on TicketIQ with the October 22 gig at New York’s Beacon Theatre currently the lowest get-in price at $90 (average price $177) and the October 11 concert at Denver’s Boettcher Concert Hall the cheapest average price at $161 (get-in price $144).
Although Apple admitted in the tour’s accompanying press release that the pair only have ‘26% of an idea what they will be playing,’ she did reveal that they will be performing material together from their individual songbooks alongside several new unreleased songs.
So fans with Blake Mills & Fiona Apple tickets should look forward to hearing several tracks from the former’s 2010 debut, Break Mirrors, alongside a trawl through the latter’s back catalogue spanning everything from 1996 debut, Tidal, right up to her Grammy-nominated 2012 LP, The Idler’s Wheel.
