October 25, 2013
The days might be drawing in and the temperatures dropping but music fans mourning the passing of the summer season should take comfort in the fact that there are a number of must-see shows to look forward to this fall/winter. Celebrating the release of his third chart-topping album, Drake has already got his Would You Like A Tour? run underway, Pink has just kick-started the fourth and final leg of her mammoth The Truth About Love world tour while Kanye West has beaten his Watch The Throne partner to the punch by getting his Yeezus tour out on the road a full month before Jay-Z opens his series of Magna Carter shows at the end of November.
Elsewhere, grunge veterans Pearl Jam are also in the midst of their first North American tour in three years, industrial rock pioneers Nine Inch Nails and support acts Explosions In The Sky and Godspeed You! Black Emperor are a month into the Tension tour, while punk-pop trio Paramore returned from a European trek last week to kick off the North American leg of their ‘The Self-Titled World Tour.’ But arguably the most long-awaited tour starts next month when Justin Timberlake caps off his musical comeback with his first series of solo shows since 2007. With thousands of tickets available to buy on TicketIQ for most of the remaining dates, here’s a more in-depth look at nine of the biggest acts who may be heading your way over the next few months.
Drake
Coinciding with the release of his third studio album, Nothing Was The Same, singer/rapper Drake will take his melancholic brand of hip-hop/R&B to the North American stage this fall, starting off at Winnipeg’s MTS Centre on October 3 (TicketIQ get-in price $96/average price $170) and concluding at the Tacoma Dome on December 4 ($104/$320). There are still plenty of Drake tickets available to buy on TicketIQ for most of the ‘Would You Like A Tour?’ tour’s 41 dates, all of which feature support slots from neo soul star Miguel and Atlanta rapper Future, with the Oct 22 gig at Ottawa’s Canadian Tire Centre currently the lowest average price at $55 (average price $339).
Justin Timberlake
Hot on the heels of his Legends Of The Summer Stadium tour alongside Jay-Z, the former ‘N Sync star will continue to celebrate his long-awaited return to the pop scene with his first series of solo dates in six years. Alongside opening acts Explosions In The Sky and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, fans with Nine Inch Nails tickets should also expect to hear plenty of tracks from their current comeback album, Hesitation Marks, during the 31-date Tension tour, which eventually concludes at Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome on Nov 25 ($63/$179).
