TicketIQ Top 25: Week 5 Update

October 3, 2013

There is a shakeup in the TicketIQ Top 25 after another great week in college football. Michigan football tickets have taken the top spot in the rankings, with Ohio State football tickets sliding down a spot, still averaging more than $200 average price per ticket. Although Michigan is 4-0, the team is nowhere near where it wants to be. The Wolverines barely got passed 0-4 UConn, a week after surviving a scare at the Big House against Akron. The early attention, although not necessarily positive, has intrigued fans to pay the big bucks to push Michigan to #1 in the TicketIQ Top 25 rankings. This is a two spot jump for Michigan average ticket prices who are ranked 19th in the nation. A spike in the rankings would keep Michigan afloat atop the TicketIQ Top 25.

Alabama football tickets have been a tough get ever since Nick Saban took over but average ticket prices for their game have been sliding. Although they are the top team in the nation, Alabama tickets have slide beyond the Top 10 in the TicketIQ Top 25. Tickets are on a six percent decline and their biggest and most expensive game of the year is already over. The presence of unknown teams such as Georgia State and Chattanooga on the Crimson Tide’s schedule does not help their case to increase price. This is a great time for ‘Bama fans to get in while the price is still low.

Meanwhile, Ohio State falls to 2nd in the rankings with an average price of $249. Urban Meyer has kept the team undefeated dating back to last year. Anytime a team is undefeated the way Ohio State has done it, demand for Ohio State football tickets is going to be high. As for the team, the Buckeyes face a tough matchup in Evanston this weekend but have smooth sailing in the Big Ten, setting up a date with Michigan at the end of the season.

Oregon is not doing too shabby considering they lost their coach Chip Kelly this past offseason. Oregon is the #2 team in the country and sits in at #4 in the TicketIQ Top 25 averaging $182 per ticket. One major reason why Oregon football tickets are starting to heat up is their powerful upcoming schedule. The Ducks have dates with Washington, UCLA and Stanford, three top 15 teams. A 4-0 start does not hurt their ticket price number either.

Prices for Oklahoma football tickets have been plummeting relative to other teams. The Sooners move down to #24 in the TicketIQ Top 25 rankings at $131 average per ticket. The drop is surprising after the OU had a stunning win in South Bend against Notre Dame last week. Expect Oklahoma football tickets to increase in the next few weeks with big games against Texas Tech, Baylor, and Oklahoma State still left on the schedule.
