BNP Paribas Open and Sony Open Tickets Preview
January 14, 2014
There may be only one tennis Grand Slam that takes place in the United States, the US Open, but that does not mean that there are not any other noteworthy tournaments. Two such tournaments are slated to take place in March, the BNP Paribas Open and Sony Open. While there can be no denying that the US Open is the most important of them commanding the highest average ticket price at $371, the other two will offer ticket prices for substantially less as the BNP Paribas Open tickets average $274 and the Sony Open goes for only $161.
Each tournament has tiered ticket prices with the cheapest being the first set of games with ticket prices going up as the tournament progresses. The average ticket price for the first week of each tournament are relatively close with the US Open averaging $236, the BNP Paribas Open at $176 and Sony Open tickets going for just $115.
However, after that the gap between each tournament greatly widens for the average ticket price for in the second week. The cheapest is the Sony Open which goes up only marginally by $88 to average $193, the same could not be said for the BNP Paribas Open and US Open which both double in price to $332 and $587 respectively.
While the BNP Paribas Open has a higher average ticket for its tournament than the Sony Open they switch positions for their Championship Matches, wherein the BNP Paribas Open averages $427 compared to the Sony Opens average of $475. The US Open Final blows both of these other prices out of the water, averaging a staggering $941 per ticket, but that isn’t even the most expensive of the tournament. That honor would take place two days before the Final for the Men’s Semifinals and Women’s Double Finals that is going for $1120. The BNP Paribas Open follow suit as its Championship match is also its second highest priced ticket with its Semifinals and Doubles Final going for 22% more averaging $545.
