The Wanted Taking A Break After Spring Tour

January 23, 2014

Members of the 5-piece English-Irish boy band The Wanted announced yesterday that they'll be taking a break from touring and recording after the conclusion of their spring 2014 performances in support of their “Word Of Mouth” LP. Although not achieving the same level of international fame and stardom as their English-Irish counterparts One Direction, the Wanted have still enjoyed success in the states, including the RIAA 3x Platinum single “Glad You Came” and RIAA Gold “Chasing The Sun”. Citing both personal and professional endeavors as the reason for the break, fans with tickets for the spring tour will be glad they came to witness perhaps the last time all 5 members share the stage.

Of the North American dates available on TicketIQ; The Wanted tour tickets currently average $104. This is a 14% increase from the 2013 summer tour with Carly Rae Jepsen (aka “Call Me Maybe”). Kansas City's Uptown Theatre features the most expensive date, averaging $221 on the secondary market. The cheapest ticket in the door is currently $198. The House of Blues in Houston, TX is the cheapest date of the tour, sporting an average ticket price of $59 and less than half the price of the Dallas House of Blues. Most tickets in Clutch City will cost you $52. The New York City show at the historic Beacon Theatre currently average $161 – an $11 increase since the announcement of the break and $45 more expensive than the band's Roseland Ballroom appearance this past October. Re-sale tickets currently start at $83.

In the entertainment business, for every door that closes another opens. So far the 2010's have seen it's fair share of bands calling it quits, but it's also seen plenty of reunions. Everyone from pop gods the Backstreet Boys and New Kids On The Block to Cali punks AFI and Blink-182 to Indie legends the Violent Femmes and the Replacements have gotten back together in the past few years to successful albums and tours. Most notably, grammy-winning hip hop duo Outkast will hit the stage for the first time in 7 years, headlining many of the major US festivals this year including California's Coachella Music Festival. If the break is permanent, perhaps the silver lining that Wanted fans can look towards is singer's Nathan Sykes budding romantic relationship with Ariana Grande. If he makes an appearance or two on her tour, Ariana Grande tickets will become an even hotter commodity to tweens and teens than they already are.
