UPDATE: In December Billy Joel made a historic announcement that he will begin to play Madison Square Garden once a month for the indefinite future, the first time an agreement like this has been made with MSG. It shouldn’t come as a total shock that the Garden would want to team up with Joel for a production like this as he holds the record for most consecutive shows sold out at Madison Square Garden, 12, in addition to playing there an amazing 64 times.

Joel’s monthly residency at Madison Square Garden is slated to begin next week on the 27th and run through at least September. For Billy Joels monthly concert run at MSG tickets are presently averaging $408 but not all of his shows are so expensive. In fact his first show of the concert series is the lowest of the entire group going for 25% less than the normal Billy Joel show averaging $307 with a Get-in of $87. While on the other hand Joel’s most expensive show is his June 21st concert which is going for an average of $472 and a Get-in of $79. No one plays MSG like Billy Joel which makes this residency one of the most anticipated concert series in the Garden’s history.

Headlining Madison Square Garden for the first time since he broke the venue’s record for the most consecutive sold-out shows – twelve in 2006 – pop’s original piano man will head back out on the road next year following the sale of Billy Joel tickets for an eight-date East Coast tour.

The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee, who took a break from performing duties in 2010 to recover from double hip replacement surgery, has slowly eased himself back onto the stage this year with a mini UK tour, a benefit concert for Long Island Cares and appearances at Australia’s Stone Music Festival and New Orleans’ Jazz & Heritage Festival.

And following a one-off New Year’s Eve date at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center (TicketIQ get-in price $253/average price $736), the 64-year-old will continue his live comeback with a string of gigs across the Florida area, taking in Sunrise’s BB&T Center on January 7 ($57/$256) and Jan 11 ($74/$372), the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Jan 17 ($69/$311), and Jacksonville’s Veterans Memorial Arena on Jan 22 ($84/$259).

The 23-time Grammy nominee will then return to New York on Jan 27 ($138/$529) when he graces the Madison Square Garden stage for the first of four shows, with Billy Joel tickets also available for the dates on February 3 ($138/$447), March 21 ($164/$520) and April 18 ($165/$493).

Judging by his recent shows, fans with Billy Joel tickets should look forward to hearing material spanning from 1971 debut Cold Spring Harbor right up to 1993’s River Of Dreams including US number ones “It’s Still Rock & Roll To Me” and “We Didn’t Start The Fire,” classic piano ballads “She’s Always A Woman” and “New York State Of Mind” and lesser-known cuts including “Blonde Over Blue” and “Where’s The Orchestra.”
